Personal Outline
The students’ bodies on long lengths of paper with the help of older students or adults, trace. Then have the students decorate the shapes by adding facial details and clothing. Students may use markers that are colored, if available, real items of fabric. Have the students dictate or write stories about themselves to accompany their silhouettes. Students may also label areas of the body.

On the Block Where I Live
Students will enjoy identifying specific characteristics of these own neighborhoods and sharing the knowledge with their classmates.
Grades K–2: Language Arts
Have each student come up with a “me” bag including toys that are favorite other personal objects (sports item, trophy, doll, book, and thus forth) which have special importance. Then have a presentation that is“me for which students show and discuss the need for the items with classmates.

Show students a variety of famous self-portraits. Then have students study themselves in a mirror and create their own self-portraits. Each student can dictate or write important facts on his / her picture.

As students grow about themselves and the people around them up they learn more. Have them create their unique books that are personal. You may want to maintain the written books in a classroom library for students to see.

Fingerprints
Have a course discussion on individual differences that are physical such as for instance hair and eye color, height, and right- and left-handedness. Explain that although some people could have certain characteristics in common, we have all a unique group of fingerprints. Make fingerprints of some or all of your students, using a stamp pad (the washable type) and paper. Have the students examine the fingerprints closely to observe how they are different. Provide magnifying glasses when possible.

Students will establish an improved appreciation of the roles they fill in their own families and community by showing some of the different aspects of these lives. Have the learning students draw pictures to share with you with classmates.

Have the learning students record and graph information on themselves in addition to class to be incorporated into a time capsule. At the end of the year, have the students open the capsule to see how they usually have changed.

Have students share special events from their classmates to their lives by making a classroom quilt.

Give the students a duration of string, yarn, or rope to assess the length, width, and circumference of various areas of the body. Challenge the students to find similarities and differences in the measurements they make.
